China’s Two Sessions coming, and civilians are facing crises and need to maintain stability
Beijing—— The Two Sessions of the Communist Party of China are about to be held. However, in the current economic and political chaos in China, the convening of the Two Sessions has not been publicized with as much fanfare as in previous years.
According to past practice, the CCP will emphasize its so-called "great achievements" in various propaganda machines before the two sessions, but the two sessions in 2024 will not be so obvious. On the eve of the two sessions of the Communist Party of China, the authorities took unprecedented measures to maintain stability.
All "road protection teams" along the route to Beijing have been dispatched on March 1. These road protection teams are composed of various local public institutions, with the purpose of preventing petitions and protests from occurring during the "Two Sessions".
"Safe Beijing" WeChat official account posted on February 28 that the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau issued on the 26th the "Notice of the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau on Strengthening the Management of 'Low, Slow and Small' Aircraft in Beijing During the National 'Two Sessions' in 2024" stating, From 0:00 on March 1 to 12:00 midnight on March 12, within the administrative area of Beijing, all units, organizations and individuals are prohibited from using drones and other "low-speed and small" aircraft to conduct various sports, entertainment, Advertising flight activities.
Analysts pointed out that the two sessions this year are still short. On the one hand, it shows that the current epidemic is quite serious and various respiratory infectious diseases are raging continuously. On the other hand, the Third Plenary Session of the CPC Central Committee was difficult to deliver, there were many contradictions within the bureaucracy, and the grassroots stability maintenance units were under great pressure. However, the top leaders of the CCP still had to prevent the emergence of some dissatisfaction and venting of emotions.
Along the way to Beijing, we found that "check-in" stations appeared at all major intersections to check vehicles and pedestrians entering Beijing along the way. In the junction area between Hebei and Beijing, some private car owners were advised to return because they did not apply for a "Beijing Entry Permit". In addition, people entering Beijing by land and railway need additional identity verification and secondary security inspection of items.
Mr. Ma, a resident of Hebei Province, said: "Previously, if you didn't apply for a "Beijing Permit", you might be fined 100 yuan and deducted one point. Now, you are directly told not to come and are directly advised to return." Mr. Ma also said that now, when applying for a Beijing Entry Permit, you need to deal with all violations before you can apply for it. Those who have violated regulations cannot be applied for.
Ms. Li from Xiongan New District, Hebei Province, who had the same experience as Mr. Ma, encountered a delay in her trip due to a secondary security check when she took a train to work in Beijing.
Ms. Li said, "The intercity train she took started from Xiongan Station, but in the past, the "secondary security check" was only done dozens of minutes in advance. Who would have thought that this time, the second security check would suddenly start nearly 90 minutes in advance. I’d be surprised if I didn’t delay!”
Ms. Li believes that "this incident coincides with the beginning of the university term, and the flow of people returning to school has increased. The railway department should improve the service measures at the station to prevent such a situation from happening."
With the intensive convening of the Two Sessions of the Communist Party of China, unprecedented measures have been taken to maintain stability in various places. Another source said that all members of the National Security Brigade in a certain place in Hebei were on duty during the meeting to maintain stability and to prevent malicious incidents from occurring.
This includes focusing on preventing and controlling dissidents and petitioners from causing trouble, including the deployment of some elite personnel from the National Security Brigade of prefecture-level cities in Hebei Province to Beijing to assist in maintaining stability.
However, on the eve of China's two sessions, various serious security incidents still occurred across China.
On the afternoon of March 1, a tragic car accident occurred in Dezhou, Shandong Province, in which more than ten children were injured and killed.
However, the Chinese Communist Party authorities covered up the incident on Sina Weibo and removed the incident from trending searches.
According to internal reports from the police in Dezhou, Shandong, China, the incident has resulted in the casualties of more than ten local children, and the attacker has been controlled by the police.
According to the license plate information of the collision vehicle, the vehicle was from Baoding City or Dingzhou City, Hebei Province.
As of the afternoon of the 2nd, reporters had not seen any official news about the development of this matter.
